According to reports, Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi has switched his international allegiance from England to Ghana.

The Champions League winner is said to have decided to play for the West African country a month after meeting President Akufo-Addo.

According to reports, Hudson-Odoi decided to wear Black Stars colours in response to racist abuse directed at England players following the Euro 2020 final.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka, who all missed penalties in England’s loss to Italy, were all racially abused online following the game.

Hudson-Odoi, who had a great relationship with the trio as a Three Lions player, has chosen to represent Ghana instead.

Bismark Odoi, the son of a former Hearts of Oak player, believes he may face similar treatment if he continues to play for England, where he was born.

During his summer vacation, Hudson-Odoi travelled to Ghana, where he fell in love and paid a visit to Ghana’s first gentleman, Akufo-Addo, at the Jubilee House.

Akufo-Addo urged Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, who was also present, to “investigate the possibility of Callum switching nationality and playing for the Black Stars.”

Hudson-Odoi has three senior caps for England but is still eligible for a switch if he does not earn a fourth cap for the Three Lions.

If the reports of him deciding to play for the Black Stars are true, he will have to wait until November of next year to do so because Fifa rules require players to be eligible for a switch three years after their last appearance for the association they wish to leave.
