Accra, May 21, GNA – The Africa Israel Initiative, Ghana has expressed its support for Israel against the recent Arab terrorist attack on Jewish families in communities in Gaza and other places without any provocation.

It, therefore, called on Christians across Africa, especially in Ghana, to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the protection of the Jewish people wherever they lived.
“While we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are also calling on the international community and governments, particularly the Government of Ghana, to dispassionately speak to the side of truth and step into the situation in time to avoid further escalation,” it said.
A statement issued by the National President of the Initiative, Rev Frederick Adu-Acheampong, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said millions of Israelis had been forced into bomb shelters, many wounded and several killed without any provocation.
“Forceful response to such terrorist attacks is the sovereign right of any nation, including Israel. This is necessary for the security and protection of the people of Israel against enemies who have sworn to extinct Israel from the face of the earth,” it said.
“Israel is not at war with Palestine. No, Israel is at war with terrorist organisations that are attacking Israeli civilians and using Palestinian civilians as shield. Any loss of precious human lives is unacceptable, be it an Israelite or a Palestinian and must not be condoned.”
The statement said it was sad to hear the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mussa Faki Mahamat issue a unilateral statement strongly condemning Israel in her response to terrorist provocations in the recent troubles in the Middle East.
“The Africa Israel Initiative vehemently oppose that unilateral posture and wish to state categorically that his statement does not represent the position of the majority God-fearing, peace-loving and discerning Africans,” it said.
The statement said years of enmity and hostility have been dissolved for the common good of building a peaceful regional alliance and a convergence of interest in fighting against terror with the recent signing of the Abraham Accords between Israel and some Arab nations.
“However, we recognize that peace in the sub-region has never been the interest of certain people. Jews, Arabs and Christians have lived peacefully together in Jewish territories over the time,” it said.
“With the recent onslaught of attacks led by the two Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah using civilians as shields, there is the purposefully agenda to incite global indignation and violence against Israel and between Palestinians and Israelis.
“The terrorist has taken advantage of the Holy Ramadan to induce the incitement that has led to terror in Jewish communities amid rocket attacks. With air raid sirens blurring though nights across Israel whiles militant groups increasingly shell thousands of rockets from Gaza.”
