Every new year, almost every one both great and small draws a plan to be a guide throughout the year. 2021 had its own challenges but through it all, the Lord saw His people through and today 31st December 2021 happens to be the last day of the year. As the year ends, all Christians gather in churches to give thanks to God and pray for God’s guidance for the new year. This is an excerpt from the message Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost gave on New Year’s Eve at Dr. Wyatt Temple.
This message is to all persons and it talks about coming out from any hiding place and face what is ahead even if it looks scary. Hope you enjoy.
Judges 6:11-14 KJV
[11] And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
[12] And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
[13] And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
[14] And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
In the scripture above, Gideon didn’t know how great he was and what he carried until the angel of the Lord appeared to him. God is with you, face the facts and quit worrying.
In facing the facts, Apostle Nyamekye explained as something that is known to exist, realities, evidence and proofs. Most facts have to do with the past and the past cannot be repaired but people refuse to move on from past events. Whatever happened to you in the past, let it go and move on with life for life cannot be lived backwards. You cannot enter the new year walking backwards.
Don’t keep dwelling on what happened in the past, stop crying over spilled milk. The best way to deal with the bad things in the past is to analyze the situation, accept the blame, consequences, be calm and see what you can do next.
Luke 15:18-20 KJV
I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
[19] And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
[20] And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
Matthew 6:25-26,34 KJV
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
[26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Philippians 4:4,6-8 KJV
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. [6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
[8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
We pray for the strength to stop dwelling on the past for God is with you and your dependable rock. Be strong.
Happy New Year…
