Many persons upon taking a closer look at the Logo of the Nigeria Army have asked why there is an Arabic Inscription on it and what it meant?Source: Google
The Inscription means: Victory is From God Alone”
Arabic is not a lingua Franca in Nigeria.
In this post, I will give you a brief biography of the man who designed the Nigerian Army Logo and why He inscribed Arabic on it.
The name of the man is Late Retired General David Ejoor and was born on 10th January 1932. He hails from Ovu in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a book written by him, he hinted that while still in service, he was mandated to design a new logo for the Nigerian Army because the old depicted the exploitation of the mineral wealth of the nation by the British.
In his quest for the logo, he recalled a battle which the Sokoto forces fought with the British Soldiers and they Carried the Sultan’s flag with had an Arabic Inscription which meant “Victory is From God Alone”
He then decided to bring this into the design of the Nigeria Army logo, thereby completing his task.
