The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in a statement on his official Facebook page has described the conduct of United Arab Emirates as despicable and insist that dignity and justice are non negotiable.

In a statement on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 29th December 2021, he wrote;

“The despicable conduct of UAE authorities which is manifesting in Emirates sudden flight ban without the slightest regard for passengers who have already bought tickets and made costly hotel and other commitments, not forgetting emergency cases, I insist, must not go unpunished. “

He continued that even though he Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is not a direct victim of their incendiary policy, but it is about solidarity, and more importantly, it is about the respect and dignity of the African people.

“This provocative episode of blatant discrimination against African countries does very little to help the image of a country which has been at pains in recent years to fend off criticism about its poor human rights record, particularly relating to how African domestic workers are treated by their citizens.”

He concluded that, Dignity and Justice are non-negotiable.

His comment comes as a background to the Emirates travel ban placed on Ghana and some African countries, which started yesterday, 28th December 2021.
