For The First Time, People Didn’t Turn Up For Christmas In My Hometown – Dr. Benedicta Yayra

A Member of the Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Benedicta Yayra, has revealed that this year’s Christmas is very dry because, for the first time, people in her hometown didn’t turn up for Christmas due to the high cost of transportation.

Dr. Benedicta Yayra made this statement as a panelist on ‘Good Morning Africa’ on Pan Africa television this morning, 30th December 2021, when she gave her opinion on 2021 under review and the hardships Ghanaians are going through during this festive season.

According to Dr. Benedicta Yayra, all the taxes that are being introduced by the government for 2022, including the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy), and the benchmark value are going to worsen the plight of Ghanaians.

“and already this Christmas if you look at it, it’s a very dry Christmas, unless the few who are enjoying.”

Dr. Benedicta Yayra indicated that the reality is that the masses are suffering, and so, this Christmas has been dry.

“Look, I visited my constituency in my hometown, and for the first time, people didn’t turn up. When you ask what’s happening; they can’t even afford transportation from wherever they are, back to their hometowns and communities.”

Dr. Benedicta Yayra stated that despite this hardship on Ghanaians, when you talk about it, people say that those who are complaining that there is hardship are lazy and are people who just want to criticize everything, but that is not true because Ghanaians are really suffering.

Dr. Benedicta Yayra revealed that this morning, for example, the 6:00 AM news indicated that we are expecting an increase in the price of fuel by the end of this weekend, which is going to worsen the plight of Ghanaians.

Dr. Benedicta Yayra added that the NDC Members of Parliament will make sure that they use their numbers to protect Ghanaians from more hardship from the government.
