Tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools are set to resume learning as from Tuesday next week.

This will mark the beginning of the third term of 2021/22 academic year. The term is scheduled to run until the end of February for the lower grades and the lower forms.

For the candidates the term will run up to the first week of April to give way for the national examination.

The cabinet secretary of education professor George Magoha has spoken on the issue of the postponement of the schools opening.

Magoha who was speaking at the primary schools heads conference said that the schools reopening date will be as scheduled and will not change.

This came after the parents raised concern following the rise of the Omicron Variant of the corona virus positivity rate.

It should be noted that the COVID infection rate in the country has surpassed the 30 percent mark in the last one week.

Magoha said that the school calendar was adversely affected in the year 2022 and changing the school reopening date might see learners taking longer in school.
