Twenty babies delivered on Christmas Day, December 25, 2021, at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua have received special hampers from MTN Ghana.

Fifteen babies were born on Christmas day at the hospital while an additional five were referred from other facilities.

Ebenezer Okaikoi Tetteh who led the MTN team to the hospital said MTN was sharing in the joy of the season that “we are here on boxing day to show love to mothers of babies born on Christmas Day”.
According to him “We have 100 baby hampers for distribution at Pentecost Hospital and Madina Polyclinic. As we speak, MTN Ghana through its employee volunteers in distributing baby hampers in all 16 regions of Ghana.”

He said, this year, MTN distributed a total of 500 hampers at a cost of GHC150,000 across the country at selected hospitals.

The baby hampers distribution which commenced somewhere in 2011 with few regions has made sharp progress which now covers all the sixteen regions in Ghana.

He explained that “Since the adoption of the baby hampers distribution program, the MTN Ghana Foundation has officially distributed over 2,000 baby hampers including this year to babies born on Christmas day”.
He narrated that the donation is one of the many ways the MTN Ghana Foundation has catered for the needs of several individuals and medical institutions in Ghana.

Joana York Amoah who is the Deputy in charge of the Postnatal Ward – Eastern Regional Hospital who received the donation on behalf of the hospital administration expressed her admiration and sincere gratitude to MTN Ghana Foundation for their kindly love shown on the day of Christmas to the babies and their parents.

She however requested that “the postnatal care unit is challenged with a lot of problems regarding women who after delivering are not able to afford their bills and remain in their care for a longer period, therefore individuals and NGOs should come to their aid”.
