Kweku Abban, a taxi driver in his early 40s, at Fijai, in the Western Region, has died mysteriously a day after he was arrested and put in cells in Sekondi.
Mr. Kweku Abban was arrested for allegedly knocking down some police officers on Friday but to be found dead on Saturday morning in a police cell.
His family members and colleagues taxi drivers went to Sekondi Police station today early morning to pay the bail for Mr. Kweku Abban only to be told that he had committed suicide with his jeans trousers.
There was a lot of confusion at the police station as the family of the deceased and his colleague’s taxi drivers said they do not understand how somebody in cells could commit suicide with his jeans trousers.
“Everyone was scandalized to hear he committed suicide with his jeans trousers. We are also wondering why the Police conveyed his body to the mortuary without a family member?”
