The NPP MP for Kwadaso constituency in Ashanti region had to admit on live TV that he couldn’t recall any achievement of Nana Addo Government in the oil and gas industry. Hon. Dr. Kingsley Nyarko made this embarassing statement on Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV on Thursday monitored by CitizenOne.
The researcher was a co penalist on the popular morning show with NDC’s Sammy Gyamfi when they discussed extensively about job creation among the two leaders, thus John Mahama and Nana Addo. Dr. Nyarko stated that Mr Mahama had no locus to talk about unemployment rate in Ghana because he told Ghanaians in 2014 that he was not a majician to put money into people’s pockets.
But Sammy Gyamfi challenged him on that statement which he described as misleading. Mr. Gyamfi asked the MP to read the full story and find out exactly what John Mahama was talking about. As Dr. Nyarko resisted, the NDC national communications officer explained that former President Mahama made the comment in Western Region when he commissioned the Atuabo Gas project in 2014. He said the former president was encouraging the youth to take advantage of the opportunities he was creating in the sector and not to sit alof and expect manner to fall from above. He said Atuabo Gas was the second project the former president has initiated in the oil and gas industry.
Sammy Gyamfi said that singular oil project had enaged about 4000 people. He challenged the former member of Critical Thinkers International to name the one single project undertaken by Nana Addo in his five years. Out of frustration, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko responded, “I don’t remember any project undertaken by Nana Addo in that sector”. Out of surprise, the host, Dr. Randy Abbey asked again if he really meant what he said. Dr. Nyarko said he doesn’t walk around with records of the President’s achievement in every sector.
