The former Member of Parliament for the Binduri constituency, Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert, has indicated that the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, is the person leading Parliament into oblivion because his language is full of insinuations and disdain towards the minority in Parliament.
Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert made this statement on ‘Good Morning Africa’ on Pan Africa television this morning, 22nd December 2021, when he blamed Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu for all the brouhaha going on in Parliament.
According to Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert, the chewing of ballot papers in Parliament by Carlos Ahenkora was the beginning of the disaster in Parliament.
Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert indicated that he believes the person who is leading us into this oblivion in Parliament is the majority leader.
“We do not have leadership that understands the situation we find ourselves. The majority leader at this point should be somebody who is willing to accommodate others, and who is willing in his language to be a unifier, but not somebody whose language is full of insinuations and disdain for the minority group in Parliament.”
Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert stated that it is unacceptable for the majority leader to give us a lame excuse that the first deputy speaker was going to use the loo. He can go and tell this story to the marines.
“If he was going to use the loo, the minority leader should be informed that this is what is happening, and that the first deputy speaker needs to visit the loo.”
Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert said that everybody knows that the explanation given by the majority leader was just an excuse and that what the first deputy speaker intended to do was to go vote, and that is unacceptable.
So, for Dr. Kuganab-Lem Robert, if this Parliament will work well, then the majority leader must begin to understand the common principle of group engagement, and a common principle of working with an opposition group, whose core mandate is to oppose.
He added that the minority is not there to entertain the majority, so when the minority are opposing, the majority has to meet them halfway to arrive at a consensus.
