In his latest epistle, he recalls the rationale for his voting preference over the past three elections, Manasseh argued that his remarks and reports that exposed former President John Dramani Mahama was genuine and that calls for an apology to him over the rather troubling situation experienced today is misguided. He scored that Ghanaians and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who think John Mahama has been vindicated and deserves an apology because of President Akufo Addo’s mess, must be ashamed.
For him, it should be John Mahama apologizing to Ghanaians for having lost the seat in 2016 to President Akufo Addo to worsen the situation he caused during his tenure. He stressed that Ghanaians would have been spared what we going through if Mahama hadn’t lost the election.
“I will not want to see the old Mahama in the Jubilee House. He should be willing to leave a better legacy than in his first term. Akufo-Addo shouldn’t be his benchmark. The race to the bottom has not, and will not, help this country.
“It’s true that Akufo-Addo has turned out to be worse. But to say that Mahama deserves an apology would mean we offended him,” he added.
He however admits that John Mahama has a brighter opportunity of winning the 2024 election because of President Akufo Addo’s mismanagement, the NDC must not be mistaken the ‘old’ Mahama that caused undue hardship on Ghanaians will make any difference if they fail to make him better. In his view much should be done to win the trust of the people lest winning the election will be a mirage.
Manasseh continued that he does not regret having criticized the John Mahama administration, for the opposition NDC to think he was mistaken. He argued that even as Akufo Addo has become a disappointment to the people of Ghana, it is incompetent and delusional to compare John Mahama as a better option to Akufo Addo. He concluded that calls for an apology to John Mahama, will is tantamount to “glorification of evil.”
“As I’ve stated somewhere, the fact that Akufo-Addo has turned out to be worse doesn’t turn Mahama’s bad deeds into good deeds,” Manasseh emphasized.
