Christmas is finally here and many people will be visiting Takoradi where the yuletide is celebrated in style. The Westside masqueraders festival is promising to bring many visitors to the Twin City who wants to witness how it is done. During such periods, the entire Twin City is flooded with many persons, and as such crime-related activities increase.

The Sekondi Takoradi area is mostly not known for hardcore criminal activities but visitors must take extra caution when visiting some places which have been classified as dangerous. The police command in the region has pledged to protect anyone in the Region but the huge portion lies on the individual. If you are visiting Takoradi this Christmas, then avoid these no-go zones.

School Junction and Tanokrom

These areas are very popular in the Effiakwesimintsim Municipality. Just recently, the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange led to the diversion of the main road and drivers have been using the intersections within these communities. Armed robbers have now taken over the area at night and have been robbing innocent persons of their properties. Those who will be driving on the roads in these communities should be extra vigilant because the criminals will forcefully take everything in their vehicles at gunpoint. Refusal to give them will cause another trouble.

Paa Grant to Kwame Nkrumah Round about

This highway has over the years become a haven for criminals. They hide in the bushes around the highway and attack anyone who is seen walking alone. It is difficult for the criminals to attack vehicles here since it’s a busy highway but they are very comfortable attacking people who use the place on foot. It will be advisable for visitors to avoid walking along or better still, join vehicles for their safety.

Takoradi Market Circle

Visitors should be extra careful when using any part of the Takoradi Market Circle. Places like Top ten, Sagoe, and Ebrewfum are very dangerous spots to use especially at night. There are criminals hiding in the massive crowd and are always looking for people to rob at knifepoint. Avoid using these places at all times or remain extra vigilant when you are just visiting the Oil city.

Takoradi Cemetery road

This road spans from Kwesimitim to Takoradi. The place is mainly dark at night since street lights have not been working for some time now. Criminals have resorted to using the place as their hideout to attack innocent persons at night. Try not to use the road alone at night to avoid being attacked.

Beaches

Sekondi Takoradi has beautiful beaches where residents and visitors move to have fun during festive seasons. Spots like Vienna, Alan and last hour beaches are very dangerous, especially at the night. Criminals hide in the bushes around these areas to attack unsuspecting individuals. Visitors should ensure that they are always in the company of others before moving to such places to have fun.

The police have already assured to provide total security but individuals should take note of the above-mentioned places and take their personal securities seriously to avoid casualties during the festive season. Despite these, Takoradi remains the best place to celebrate Christmas in Ghana.
