The former First Lady, H.E Lordina Mahama has taken the lead among First Ladies in Ghana to warm the hearts of needy children with some Christmas gifts. The gesture is the earliest ever taken this year among her type; thus politicians, this festive season and she is causing waves with the quantum of items being distributed.

Through her Lordina Foundation, she has presented gifts including food that are being delivered to six orphanages across the country. A symbolic presentation for this exercise was undertaken this morning at the Osu Children’s home where she handed over items such as bags of rice, tinned fish, cooking oil, Milo milk powder, diapers and many others.

And there were some toys for the kids too. The affection H.E Lordina Mahama expressed for these kids was touching. It was as though they were hers and she missed them too.

The excitement on the faces of the kids and that of the staff was overwhelming. There were hugs and laughter all over as they received these items.

Christmas is going to be awesome for these children. They will never feel neglected. Other places that are yet to receive their donations are the Christ Faith Foster Home at Fafraha, Tamale Children’s Home, Anfaani Children’s Home in Tamale, Bethesda Children’s Home and Frank May Children’s Home, both in Techiman.

As caring as she is, and knowing the plight of women who have been held up and stigmatised at the Gambaga Witches Camp, H.E Lordina Mahama is extending this gesture to them as part of this support this season. She truly understands the situation in this area, especially when she is a native of the north.

This gesture will surely be extended to other places and groups of persons this Christmas. Her past support has been given to women in Zongo Communities, the head porters (Kayaye) and other homeless people in the streets of Accra.

Following this shoe of love from the former First Lady, it is expected that the current First Lady H.E Rebecca Akufo Addo, and Second Lady H.E Samira Bawumia will undertake theirs soon. So far no clue is given as to what will be done and who the beneficiaries would be but it is expected that the impact would be huge.
