Legon Cities FC utility player, Nii Bortey Acquaye says he feels disappointed about the club’s current poor performance.
The former West Africa Football Academy defender has predominantly been deployed in a defensive midfield role this season where he has shone brightly. His efforts are however yet to be crowned with smiles and winning bonuses as the Royals still grope for positive results. Under the watch of Black Stars deputy coach, Maxwell Konadu, Legon Cities FC have managed just a win and four draws in nine games. They have fetched seven points in the process, leaving them second from bottom of the 18-club league. The poor outing has left Nii Bortey in a worrying state.
“I will say it’s unfortunate we lost but we did all we could to survive this game and take the three maximum points but it didn’t happen so. “So we go back and work on our next game and see what happens,” Nii Bortey Acquaye said in a post match press conference. “I feel bad [with our position] but it’s unfortunate that we are getting this results but we keep working and then we hope everything will be fine.” Nii Bortey added.
Legon Cities lost 2-1 to Asante Kotoko in week nine at the Dawu Park on Sunday to further throw coach Maxwell Konadu’s job on the line. Cameroonian striker, Franck Etouga grabbed a brace with Ahmed Rahman pulling Legon Cities’ equalizer in between the double. Legon Cities’ last seven games have not brought a single victory. They have lost three times and drawn four of those games in a lead up sinking down the log. They are away to another struggling side, Elmina Sharks at the Nduom Stadium in week 10 on December 26.
