The Electoral Commission of Ghana has responded to allegations making waves on social media purporting that the Chairperson for the electioneering outfit, Madam Jean Mensah was present at the just ended national delegates conference of the ruling New Patriotic Party. The Commission has denied the allegations with a bold statement.
According to the Commission, the picture in circulation is not the boss Jean Mensah as described by other Ghanaians. The outfit believes that the accusations are attempt to soil the integrity and non-partisan personality of its boss, Jean Mensah.
This statement follows after a picture of Jean Mensah lookalike popped up online. It is must be stated emphatically that, the lady in the picture resembles Madam Jean Mensah and for that matter any hasty look could up in a wrong judgement. In the said picture was a woman beautifully clad in NPP colours and sitting amidst the crowd.
Many Ghanaians have also alleged that Jean Mensah is an NPP activist and has attributed the victory of the ruling party to her efforts to rig the elections in their favour. It is on record that such allegations have been quashed by the commission and the Supreme Court after the opposition National Democratic Congress failed to provide reasonable evidence to buttress their claims.
Amidst the ongoing brouhaha between the Electoral Commission and some political parties in the country, the Commission strongly opposed such allegations. In the signed statement dated 20th December 2021, the commission debunks the claims and calls on the general public to treat it as false and unfounded.

It must be emphasized that Ghanaians cannot continue making and propagating unfounded allegations without doing proper investigation and research into claims. It has come to a time where such “controversial” public institutions need to be protected to ensure good delivery of their constitutionally mandated work.
