Asante Kotoko will be on the road for battling another tight 2021/22 Ghana Premier League fixture this weekend.
The record Ghana Premier League holders, minus the postponed week seven clash against arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, are seated third with 14 points on the league log from seven games. Their last three games have not come really good as they have managed only two points out of a possible. Week five was a goalless draw at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park against Karela United before week seven brought a 3-2 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium to city rivals, King Faisal. The two time African champions were bent on recovering from that loss when they hosted a rejuvenated Real Tamale United at the Baba Yara Stadium in week eight but the end result will not bring much smiles to the teeming fans.
Kotoko led the game in the second half through a solo effort by Cameroonian striker, Mbella Frank Thierry but the premier league returnees had other ideas as they kept pushing for the equalizer. Kotoko goalkeeper, Razak Abalora’s was at his best but his clearance when a RTU sent in a cross fell to David Abagna Sandan to slot home the equalizer to mute the Porcupine fans. Unconfirmed reports have it that, the Ghana National Sports Authority are set to allow the clash to go on at the Accra Sports. It will be a worthwhile encounter as Legon Cities FC Coach, Maxwell Konadu is set to meet his former employers in week nine. The Royals have not posted impressive results despite holding defending champions, Hearts of Oak to a barren game in the season’s opener. They have won just a game, drawn four and lost three in a lead up to collecting seven points and in 14th spot.
