One of the renowned category ‘A’ senior high school, St Andrews SHS Assin Fosu, the pacesetters in secondary education has introduced a new weekend academic programme known as STASS time which is geared towards promoting academic excellence
The academic programme which has come to stay was masterminded by the Department of English Language.
The head of department of English Language Mr Ebenezer Ato Nyarko known as Panacea and other colleague English teachers like Madam Rhodaline Naa Oboshie Abenser aka Swagalicious and Gordon Prempeh known as Y Pee had contributed immensely towards the establishment of STASS time.
As the acronym goes, STASS refers to St Andrews Secondary School, the great school that topped WASSCE 2020 according to WAEC statistics and the programme itself is organised every weekend on Rich FM 98.7 Assin Fosu, a sister station to Peace FM Accra
The various programmes carefully selected under the STASS time, the academic excellent programme includes;
1. Debate topics taking its root from a well planned and sensitive topics that is centred on leadership roles, correcting societal ills, creating awareness to adolescents, the youth and how best they can contribute largely towards Ghana’s development.
2. Variety shows
3. What do you know
4. Spelling B
5. Story telling
6. Talk shows
7. Poetry recitation
8. Jama ( entertainment ) etc.
Over the years Ghanaians have reposed their trust in St Andrews SHS for producing top candidates for academic excellence in their examination based on the kind of lecture techniques and training giving to students in blowing the WASSCE
Education is the bedrock to success in life but the ability to meet all the nitty gritty of it contributes to greater achievement which prepares the individual to reach the upper echelon in life.
St Andrews, the school which was established by Ghanaian millionaire Dr Richard Kofi Asiedu, the CEO and proprietor of St Andrews groups and St Andrews SHS respectively in 2005 has never left no stone unturned every year through the best opportunities, programmes, resourceful teaching, conducive environment created for students had been the hallmark to the great successes chalked by the school.
STASS time seems to be the first ever radio educational programme for students in the country so far as secondary school education is concerned and its going to make the students busy, engaged in serious studies towards their life and WASSCE.
