The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu moved a motion in Parliament that members approve the allocated sum of GHc 687, 992, 121 for parliamentary services. Debating on the motion, Minority leader stated boldly that the Right Honorable Speaker, Alban Bagbin is not satisfied with that amount allocated to the legislative arm of government.
Haruna Iddrisu explained that Parliament negotiated for a 1 billion allocation. However, they settled on 726 million as the budget for 2022. He therefore explained that he had all the rights to arrest the motion moved by the Minister of Parliamentary affairs.
He urged the Ministry of Finance to assure the House of some provisions to contain the concerns raised. He explained that he was not interested in obstructing government business. Thus, he called on the deputy Minister to assure the house else he will put the motion to an immediate vote and thereafter arrest the motion.
