A customs officers at the Tema port has found himself in trouble for allegedly taking an amount from an importer in the name of getting him a reduced cost of clearance, but later auctioned the container worth €60,000 for only Gh¢12,000. The customs officer by name Clement Agyemang extorted money from this importer to help him clear his second hand tyres at the port at a reduced cost.
Speaking on Onua Maakye this Wednesday morning 15th December 2021, Captain Smart narrated that after taking about gh¢3,000 from the man, the customs officer claimed that the container was missing and that he needed additional money to look for it which the man readily paid. But later, the importer found out that his goods have been auctioned, including his personal effects. “You are calling me to complain about all your family members calling you about this case. If you did want is right, would we come to this level? I am going to display your pictures on TV tomorrow for all the people in your hometown and all Ghanaians to see you, knowing the rot in you, and also know that you only flaunt yourself with money acquired from thievery”, Captain Smart retorted. .
