3-day-old twins have been rushed back to the Mamponteng hospital after they were discharged from the hospital this afternoon. The twins, in the company of their parents; father and mother, were involved in an accident when a driver made a sudden halt at the Nyame Nhyira Wo Furniture shop, on the Mamponteng to Mampong road.

The accident which was reported to have been caused by an animal, has taken no life as of now, but five victims including three-day-old twins, are badly injured as rescuers took them to the Mamponteng Hospital for treatment. Ishmael Kodua, an eyewitness and a rescuer reported that an animal was to be blamed for the accident.

At Mamponteng Baaye, a junction that connects Mamponteng hospital road to the main Mamponteng to Mampong road, was where a Toyota Corolla crashed into a Suzuki sedan. The Toyota Corolla with five occupants, One male driver, Two female passengers and the twins, were coming from the Mamponteng hospital road when the Suzuki sedan forced them to crash.

The driver of the Suzuki among the critically injured victims, made a sudden halt to his car in front of the oncoming lane when a Goat Nanny with her two goat kids, crossed him at Nyame Nhyira Wo furniture shop. The driver of the Suzuki, according to the reports of Ishmael Kodua, made a sudden halt to save the animals from crashing to death when they crossed him on the road.

The sudden halts of the Suzuki sedan driver, forced the Toyota Corolla into hitting it leading to the injuries of the 3-day-old twins. One of the babies was picked on the floor beneath the back seats, and it looked pretty bad. The other baby was still on the lap of the mother crying when we went to rescue them, Ishmael said after the accident.

All the victims, including the twins, have been taken to the Mamponteng Hospital, but there is a rumour, the twins will be transferred to the Kumasi KATH hospital for emergency treatments looking at the degree of their injuries.

Lydia Kyekyeku, 50, the grandmother of the twins who was among the minor injured victims, hinted that the twins which were born on Saturday noon, are been prepared for referral to the children emergency clinic at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. Lydia also affirmed that the driver of the Toyota Corolla, the twin’s father, was well and have started responding well to treatment.
