Information reaching Bricy Boateng from a reliable source indicates that some District Education offices in the Western -North Region have asked teachers in the circuits to visit the District Education office for their laptops.
The information was passed on from the Education Office to teachers’ WhatsApp platforms today, 13th December 2021. The information reads,
“All JHS headteachers in Akontombra, Essase and Bronikrom Circuit should come to the office with their school stump, to sign their staff list for the Distribution of the Labtops. Please excuse my language, it is immediate effect, Right now. Very urgent. Thanks”.
The teachers are told to bring along the school stamps of their respective schools, which will be used to authenticate their names on the list for onward distribution of the TM 1 laptops.
Although all public junior high school teachers and students are currently on vacation, they are being told to treat this message with all seriousness and come to the office regardless of wherever they are.
Following the backlash received by the Ghana Education Service, pressure is mounted on them to fast-strike the distribution process to reach every teacher who has been deducted the laptop money from his/her professional allowance last month November.
Although GES released a press statement about how far they have gone with the distribution where they indicated that almost every teacher in the senior high schools has so far received the laptops, the majority of teachers are not satisfied with how management of the GES has handled the distribution so far.
Again, some aggrieved teachers have also decided to go to demonstrate in the name of rejecting the laptops and also ask management of GES to refund the GHC 509 deducted from their PDA.
