The draw for the last 16 of the Champions league carried out this morning has been declared void following Manchester United draw against PSG.

UEFA blamed a “material error” due to a “technical problem with the software of an external service provider” as it announced that the draw for the first knockout round of its flagship competition would be redone at 1400 GMT.

According to UEFA, “Following the technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw of UEFA Champions League Round of 16.”

“Following the technical problem, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET,” EUFA announces.

The first draw which took place this morning at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland and declared error saw Liverpool and Chelsea handed dream ties, Man Utd take on PSG.

Chelsea have been drawn against French club Lille in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

The Blues finished second in their group after being held to a 3-3 draw against Zenit Saint Petersburg last week – with Juventus’ win against Malmo meaning the Italian giants secured top spot.

Lille, meanwhile, topped a group including RB Salzburg, Sevilla and Wolfsburg with three wins and two draws from their six games. The French outfit are having their struggles domestically, though, having won just six of their opening 18 Ligue 1 games – sitting 11th in the table.

The fixtures for the first draw for the last-16 were

Benfica vs Real Madrid

Villarreal vs Manchester City

Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich

FC Salzburg vs Liverpool

Inter Milan vs Ajax

Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus

Chelsea vs Lille

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United
