Karela United could make a mince meat of Ghana Premier League entrants, Accra Lions in week seven of the Ghana Premier League.
Karela will welcome Accra Lions to the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase for the seventh week clash. Accra Lions, who parted ways with their German coach Rainer Kraft, have not faired well in their debut season and that could give Karela the advantage. Karela United were held to a 1-1 draw by Aduana Stars in the opening week of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park. Their second week clash was an away game to AshantiGold which they surprisingly picked a point. Karela United held the Miners to a 1-1 draw at the Len Clay Stadium.
Moving into week three at home, they were bent on claiming their first three points against Berekum Chelsea and it did materialize. They beat the former Ghana Premier League champions by 2-1. The week four was a disappointment at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa against two time FA Cup Champions, Medeama. They were beaten 2-0 in the process to suffer their first defeat. Their week five game was expected to be a tough one against Asante Kotoko at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park. They were lucky to keep a draw after the game ended goalless in the entire duration.
The sixth week was however a bad news as a rejuvenated Elmina Sharks out of nowhere inflicted them with their second defeat of the season. Karela United lost 2-1 to Sharks at the Nduom Stadium. They now have six points out of a possible 18 and currently occupy the 13th spot on the league log. Karela will look to upset Accra Lions to go on nine points.
