Instruct That The Allocation Be Redirected Now: Okudzeto Ablakwa Spews Fire

Even though my current analysis, only 2.7% of Ghanaians are fully vaccinated with total vaccine donations and pledges only capable of catering for a maximum of 40% of the Ghanaian adult population in a best-case scenario, that is if none expire or get damaged.

The government could not at the very least maintain its previous year budgetary allocation of GHS500million to purchase vaccines.

The government could only provide for GHS300million in the 2022 budget for vaccine purchases. At a generous $10 average cost per dose, that allocation will cater for only a 2.5million double-vaccinated Ghanaians. This does not account for potential booster shots, particularly with the omicron threat. At this rate, attaining herd immunity can only be a mirage.

Talk of priorities, the Akufo-Addo administration suffers no bout of conscience in slashing our vaccine budget by a whopping GHS200million and then proceeding to make a daylight-robbery allocation of GHS242million (US$40million) for a dodgy e-Transaction Levy Services.

That sleazy allocation could well have nearly doubled our vaccine purchase capacity and ensure that precious Ghanaian lives are saved.

President Akufo-Addo must immediately instruct that the “yakuza” allocation be redirected to address our vaccine purchase shortfalls.

Together, we shall defeat this e-Robbery masquerading as E-Levy.
