Double Track Does Not Compromise Quality Education -GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said a seven-year analysis of core subjects data in the WASSCE shows a positive trend in students’ performance benchmarked against the A1-C6 tertiary qualification.

Per the statistics released, 2020 and 2021 are the only years in the past seven years that more than 50% of candidates obtained A1 to C6 in all core subjects.

The 2020 and 2021 WASSCE candidates are products of the double-track system in Senior High School education. Many chastised the government for introducing this system in high school education.

Comparing WASSCE Results Since 2015, GES said the double-track system doesn’t compromise quality education.

GES believes interventions such as Maths and Science training for teachers, core textbooks for all students, remedial packages delivered to all students, support for low performing schools, increased contact hours for teaching, general free SHS interventions, and core subject teacher training digitised and disseminated to all schools have contributed to “sterling” performance”.
