Kelvin Taylor is a journalist who is well known for criticizing government, especially the Akuffo Addo lead government. In a video that is circulating on social media, he addressed an issue of relating to the behaviors of Ghanaians during the last day of the year which is often the 31st December night.
In Ghana it had become a norm that people go to church during the 31st night where a lot of activities transpires. It’s on this day that a lot of people asses themselves and also make resolutions for the coming year. In Ghana, this day is when a lot of prophets will prophesy about the coming year. It is also expected the the year that is passing will go with all it problems and that the new year will bring good tidings.
It is to this that Kelvin Taylor holds a different opinion. According to him, in the United States of America where he currently resides, people don’t go to church on a 31st December night as it is the norm in Ghana. Rather , on that day, people have fun, go to bars, make love and congratulate themselves for their hard work. This is because in the USA they believe in hard work. He went ahead to say that it is not automatic that as the year is ending, all our burdens and problems will go with it as many in our side of the world make it look like. So there is no need to wait till 31st night before going to church to pray because calendar is man made and there is no prove that the beginning of a new year here is the beginning of a new year in heaven where God is.
According to him the calendar was created to manipulate people’s lives. Therefore there is no need to wait till a particular time before making any appeal or saying any prayer to God. He said what ever you want to tell God, say it now. According to him we should believe that there is a God, we should respect him and worship Him but we should not let any human being determine how we want to worship God. He said God does not speak to anyone so we should use our brains.He claimed to be a Christian from the Anglican Church therefore we presume he knows exactly what he is talking about.
