Ghanaian internationals Kudus Mohammed and Mohammed Salisu are set to be part of Black Stars provisional squad that will be announced next week.
Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed sustained an injury in an epic World Cup qualifier between Black Stars of Ghana and Bafana Bafana of South Africa last month. Following his injury, he was ruled out of action for the rest of this year, but Milovan Rajevac could add him to his squad with the hope of an early recuperation.
The budding player called for substitution in the 12th minute after an off-the-ball against South African. Having undergone further tests in Holland, it emerged the injury was career threatening than previously anticipated, and will need more time to recover. Ajax manager Ten Hag confirmed back then.
“It’s a serious injury, it will take some time. I don’t know if he will be able to go into action this calendar year. It is very annoying that he was injured again, he had been in shape for a while and played a number of matches. He played a very good role against Borussia Dortmund. He is extremely disappointing, especially for himself. He is deeply sorry that this is happening to him again. We will do that. he has to get him out of it. and he has to get up again.”
With Mohammed Salisu, numerous attempts have been made to get him on board. During the tenure of Charles Akonnor, contacts were established to invite the stalwart defender for national duties but that could not see the light of day. Meanwhile, the defender continues to make a mark for English Premier League side Southampton, courting admiration and commendation from Ghanaians. Football loving fans have expressed interest in seeing Moahmmed Salisu wearing the Red, Gold and Green colors for Ghana. Milovan Rajevac is fully satisfied with his output and is ready to infuse him in the list that will be traveling to Cameroon for Nations Cup.
The inclusion of the duo will be crucial to Black Stars of Ghana.
Milovan Rajevac has submitted a 40-man provisional list to the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association last week. The Serbian trainer is keen on assembling the best of material to compete in Nations Cup.
Plans are underway for the Senior National team to camp in Qatar ahead of the tournament. Three friendly matches are scheduled during that time as part of a meticulous effort of attaining a the desired target of annexing the trophy.
