The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) organized a public forum to explain to the Ghanaian populace into detail the components of the 2022 Budget Statement which they have described as “Awudie” Budget. The NDC spoke a lot on the 2022 ‘Awudie’ Budget under the theme, “What The 2022 Budget Means For You As A Ghanaian”. The Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency, Hon. Eric Opoku, MP for Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Isaac Adongo and NDC’s National Communications Officer, Mr. Sammy Gymafi were the speakers who enlightened Ghanaians today.
It seems that NDC’s public forum has mounted some kind of pressure on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to also call for a similar forum to engage Ghanaians on the 2022 Budget which they have also described as “Agyenkwa” Budget. The public forum would be held in Kumasi at the Kingdom Life Ministry on the 17th of December, 2021.
This forum would be graced with the presence of several Ministers of the State which includes the Energy Minister, Information Minister and Deputy Finance Minister. Other guest speakers are NPP’s General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah.
What are some of your expectations for this public engagement by the NPP? Was this planned or is the NPP holding this public engagement as a result of what their political opponents did today? Share your thoughts with us by leaving all your comments below.
