Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe constituency, appeared before Parliament to answer some questions filed by the members of the house.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament of Nkwanta North, John Kwabena Bless, about when the Damango Community Day Senior High School will be completed, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum told the house that under Mahama’s administration, the Ministry Of Education awarded a contract to a company to build 200 community day schools of which Damango Community Day School is included. He revealed that the work was supposed to start in August 2014 and be completed in August 2015. He added that the school is 70% complete.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum disclosed that the contractor left the site because of some misunderstanding during the preparation of the payment certificate. However, the misunderstanding has been settled and the contractor has been urged to return.
The NDC MP who asked the question appreciated the effort of the Minister in settling the misunderstanding. However, he insisted on knowing the exact period or date which the project will be completed.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum brilliantly responded that he did not know the exact date and he was not willing to give a date which he was not certain of.
“I have learnt my lessons in this house and I will not repeat my mistakes. I can however assure the MP that I will do everything possible for the project to be completed”, he added.
