In Ghana members of parliament are the law makers and it is expected that they abide by the law to serve as an example to ordinary citizens but it looks like things are rather opposite. There are times that the very people that make the laws for citizens to abide by become culprits in breaking that same law. It’s not been to long when one member of parliament by name Honorable Sosu, lead a demonstration without following the appropriate channels and became wanted by the police.
Just recently too, another member of parliament by name Honorable Dr. Stephen Amoah was arrested for violating road traffic regulations on 7th December, 2021 with other culprits. The Honorable member of parliament was suppose to appear in court on the 8th December, 2021 but refused to appear therefore was put before the La magistrate court today when he presented himself to the police. Details concerning his appearance in court is yet to be known.
The incidence of the Honorable MP being arrested and dragged to court made Ghanaians expressed their views. One individual was like, “this attitude of do you know who I am must stop”. According to some of those who expressed their views, every lawbreaker must be dealt with as no one is above the law. Others also congratulated the Ghana police service for discharging their duties without fear or favor while others held different opinions. According to some of those who were commenting there have been V8 cars who were abusing their sirens and the police did nothing about it. Some also said the police should increase their surveillance cameras at their major blocks and see what their people are doing.
One person made a comment that was very intriguing. According to him the MP that was arrested should be jailed as he claimed that the member of parliament was doing absolutely nothing at his constituency. These were just some few of the comments.Below are some of the images containing comments of citizens.
