The Ghana Education Service has just released a post concerning the exact vacation date for all public junior schools in the country.
Unlike the previous one that was given, all junior high schools are to vacate within this week. Even though some have already vacated based on the announcement by the Ministry of Education through the PRO, Kwasi Kwarteng.
GES wrote on their official Facebook page, “The Ministry of Education has directed GES to allow JHS schools to vacate as per their scheduled vacation date. Please note and act accordingly. Thank you.”
According to GES, the Ministry of Education pleaded on teachers and students in junior high school’s behalf to allow them to vacate on the stipulated date. This means that, all Junior high schools are to vacate on 7th December 2021 and reopen on 10th January 2022. Those who have not vacated should do so today.
Furthermore, students are to note that there will be no extension of reopening date for another week. However, all primary and KG teachers and students are told to remain in school and vacate on the new date. They will enjoy a week more at home because of this new development.
To this end, GES is directing all teachers and head teachers in junior high to proceed on vacation if they have not done that yet. Although there was confusion created by GES and the MoE earlier this week, this new directive settles the case once and for all.
District Directors of Education are directed to ensure that head teachers at the JHS level inform their teachers and allow them to vacate as soon as possible.
Even though Kwasi Kwarteng, the PRO of MoE said on Kessben FM that junior high schools are exempted from spending one week in school, many head teachers are still insisting teachers remain in school because they (head teachers) have not received any directive from the Education Office.
