Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairperson Irvin Khoza made a confirmation that they are dealing with the Kaizer Chiefs predicament and whether their DStv Premiership matches will be postponed or not for December.
This is the first response coming from the PSL, since Chiefs didn’t show up for the match up against Cape Town City at the FNB stadium on Saturday.
Kaizer Chiefs made a request to have their remaining matches for December to be postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the club, leaving 31 players and technical staff testing positive for Covid-19.
iDiskiTimes, reports, the PSL top brass have confirmed that all league matches will continue now, adding that the Chiefs matter will be dealt with.
“All the PSL matches are continuing. We’re dealing with a process on this matter, not the sensations. We want to give to give this matter the attention it deserves. The matter [Chiefs case] has been escalated to us, and I can’t talk about the details now.
“There was a letter written by Chiefs requesting a postponement, but I’m not giving the merits of the matter but the process”. Khoza explained.
Since matches cannot be postponed and Kaizer Chiefs has a match lined-up in Durban. What will do? Since they don’t have enough players and staff?
It is unfortunate that despite Kaizer Chiefs plea to have their fixtures December postponed, the PSL chairperson revealed that the plea was rejected.
Cape Town City chairperson John Comitis, on Tuesday advised Kaizer Chiefs to honour their fixture in Durban against Golden Arrows as he was sympathizing with the club.
Kaizer Chiefs is already in hot water, for no-show against Cape Town City. The club is likely to lose forfeit three points and they are facing a fine of up to R1 million.
On Wednesday night it’s kickoff time. Will Kaizer Chiefs show up in Durban?
