Evergreen music duo R2bees spoke to the Ghana Weekend recently where they spoke about a wide range of issues concerning their forthcoming studio album.
The primary highlight of the discussion was when Omar Sterling aka Paedae revealed that he was the one who managed to get his brother Mugeez to transition from a rapper to a smooth singer.
In his words, he realized Mugeez had much fluidity when he’s on the vocals done spitting bars so he somehow managed to convince him to look at the flip side so they can grow exponentially.
“Even though we were both rappers, I realized he had a good singing voice so I encouraged him to do more of it.”
He added that the decision to allow Mugeez to concentrate on singing also brought variety to the group and expanded their fanbase.
In a different interview the group granted with the media, they revealed why they are not harnessing the power of social media to augment their brand.
The two relatives despite their huge persona within the music arena, have failed to be on social media and use it further and sustain their music career as other creative art producers all over the world are doing.
Giving a perspective on this, Omar Sterling (Paedae) and Mugeez who make up the group explained on Accra-based Okay FM that growing up without access to modern mobile telecommunication technology helped them to be able to control their activities online.
According to Paedae, he and his cousin, Mugeez were born in the early 1980s and unlike most young people of the current generation, never had the chance to own sophisticated gadgets.
He said, living without phones in their teenage years has helped them to not over-depend on them. Paedae also added that most social media addicts are attention-seekers who have no substance in the content they share, and therefore do not deserve the audience they get.
