The Mob Setting The Trailer Ablaze

There was pandemonium in the Ogba axis in Lagos state today 7th of December, 2021 when a certain trailer that was in motion lost control after its brake failure, which led the trailer to crush several pupils who had left their schools to return home to death, while many had severe injuries.

This happened at about 2:30 pm, and what follows is how some miscreants became enraged and pursued the trailer from an area called Ogunusi near Grammar School bus stop to Aguda in Ogba, where the trailer had stopped.

The Punch newspaper reported that the enraged miscreants in the area who chased the trailer went ahead and set it ablaze.

However, there are two things that the miscreants did that were wrongly done according to the constitution of Nigeria, which I shall analyze in this article so that people can stop such acts:

•People Wrongly Put The Law Into Their Arms By Beating The Police:

One of the wrong things that were observed at the event was how the miscreants took the law into their arms in Nigeria. The law did not allow anyone to do what he or she thought when some of the sorts of heinous event occurred in society. The miscreants went ahead and beat the law enforcement agents, i.e., the police and the LASTMA, who had appeared on the scene to propagate peace. An act that led to insanity in which many law enforcement agents were prevented from participating due to their job.

In many ramifications, if things of the sort happen, people should allow the agent responsible to do their job so that the culprit can be arrested for proper justice to be served, but people did not allow this. They took the law into their arms instead.

• The Miscreants Were Also Involved In Malicious Damage:

The miscreants not only assaulted the officers, but they also committed another crime.

It is often said that two wrongs can never make a right. This is because the driver who killed the pupil had committed a crime that only the Nigerian government could handle, but it’s so surprising that the miscreants who were present went ahead to commit another crime by setting the trailer ablaze.

The crime they committed is called malicious damage.

In that regard, they failed to know that setting the trailer ablaze means canceling the case that was supposed to be established before the culprits because the trailer itself is an exhibit.

Therefore, people should know that if such things happen, the Nigerian government must handle it, not put it into their arms.
