The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and incumbent Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has reacted to false claims by Kwesi Pratt. One of Ghana’s most senior journalists and managing editor at the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr this morning made an allegation that Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor will not be able to make it to parliament today, 7th December 2021.

And today, Parliament has important business to examine and, if possible, vote on, namely the 2022 budget, which includes the contentious 1.75 per cent E-Levy tax. Kwesi Pratt made a statement that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be done by one member making their numbers in parliament 137 because he has a confirmed report that Samuel Abu Jinapor has travelled outside Ghana.

However, about an hour ago, Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor took to Facebook to ridicule Kwesi Pratts’ charges. Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor made it clear that because the business of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is very important to him, not even sickness can keep him from going to parliament today. The Minister posted this statement on his official Facebook page after taking a photo in parliament:

“I just arrived in Parliament, today, 7th December 2021, at exactly 10 am!!! I heard my good friend Kwesi Pratt, claiming on authority that I am out of Ghana and will therefore not be in Parliament today, thus, the majority is down by one member. That is false. Subject to ill health, absolutely nothing can take me away from the business of the government of President Akufo-Addo in Parliament. Absolutely nothing!!!!”.

Some Ghanaians after coming across this message said that they use to respect Kwesi Pratt as a senior journalist but it appears his recent unfactual statements is becoming too much.
