It is a few days to Christmas and it appears the armed robbery activities in the country have increased. The past few days have seen some armed robbers striking in some communities in the country. The Greater Accra and the Ashanti Regions have had their fair share of their operations. Just recently, a man was killed just in the presence of his child and wife when armed robbers attacked their house one morning.

Some persons have as well been injured in the process with others losing their properties in the process. In some instances, the armed robbers who have ammunition will not hesitate to pull the trigger if their victims refuse to corporate with them. As the armed robbers are devising new strategies, the police administration led by the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has also improved on their intelligence. They have promised to ensure that everyone is safe from the activities of armed robbers in this festive season.

Following this, a total of six armed robbers have been arrested in the past two days with one being killed instantly. The two separate incidences happened at Osekrom in the Ashanti Region and Legon Hills in the Greater Accra Region. At Oseikrom, the armed robbers attacked some miners in an attempt to rob them of their hard-earned money. The police moved to the scene and killed one of them whilst three, Appiah Ernest, Emmanuel Awolo, and Nkrumah Richard were arrested.

Soon after that, another gang of armed robbers stormed Lagon Hills and started looting the homes of innocent persons. The police once again had hint and moved in to arrest all of them. Samuel Adjei and Sumaila Mahama were arrested in the process. This makes the total armed robbers arrested in the past few days six with one being killed and five others currently facing the laws of the country accordingly.

In all the two separate robberies, loaded ammunitions were found with the armed robbers. The fortunate aspect of the two operations is that no innocent individuals died from the guns of the armed robbers. One of the armed robbers instead died from the gun of the police through a fire exchange. The early signs indicate that the armed robbers are trying everything possible to operate in the Christmas season but the police are also on high alert to ensure they are arrested or gunned down. Residents must also be on high alert in this festive season and ensure that anyone with strange movements reported immediately to the police for action to be taken.
