26-year-old Ghanaian highlife and afrobeats singer, Gregory Bortey Newman who goes by the stage name King Promise, has now become the center of attraction on social media after he stormed the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards ceremony with a ‘wellington book-like’ sneaker called Bottega Veneta which cost over Gh¢8000.
The MOBO Awards, is an annual British music award presentation which honours excellence in music of black origin. This year’s edition was held just yesterday at Coventry Building Society Arena and was host by artist, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and comedian, Munya Chawawa. Wizkid emerged as the winner for Best International Act and also Best African Music Act.
King Promise, who got nomination attended the awards ceremony and showed up on the red carpet rocked in a black leather jacket on a green sweater and a pair of trousers with his bottega veneta boots. Little inquiries shows the shoe is cost $1350 on the Bottega Veneta online store which is equivalent to Gh¢8268.75.
Netizens on the other hand decided to troll him after he shared photos of himself on the red carpet as some claims he always wear storey building shoes. One also quizzed if the shoe is not a wellington boot.
