The embattled broadcast journalist at Onau TV, Captain Smart is not put of the woods yet, says Daddy Fred of the Announcer Newspaper. According to him, it is a mistaken belief or perhaps propaganda being spewed into the public that Captain Smart is freed.
He explained that the Police are not backtracking on the charges that have been pressed against Captain Smart, and as such the bail granted him yesterday cannot be construed to be an exoneration of the charges. In a Facebook video broadcast, Daddy Fred emphasized that Police under the new administration of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, will enforce the laws of the nation to the latter.
He continued that the management of Onua TV should have rather advised Captain Smart about his utterances than come out publicly to insinuate that their colleague is being intimidated by the arrest. Daddy Fred added that it was with the unrepenting attitude of Captain Smart and his unguarded utterances that Dr Kwaku Oteng of Angel Broadcasting Network suspended him.
Daddy Fred prayed that management of Onua TV will take a cue from this case and do the needful to avert future undesired consequences. He noted that professionalism has been disregarded for commercial ratings at Onua TV.
“We have ethics in journalism but Onua TV has looked on for this man to insult people, incite the public against the government. IN other states, he wouldn’t have been granted any bail. This is a treasonable offence.”
He argued that the charges the Police is pressing against Captain Smart are no ordinary accusation hence he should be prepared to face the law. Daddy Fred stressed that Captain Smart is only tickling himself with the bail he was granted.
“Don’t ever think you are free. They have taken your cautionary statement. This case is not over yet. It should be a lesson to his colleagues; Okatakyie Afrifa and Avram Moeshe. You have the right to speak and criticize but not to insult and incite people against the government. That is a crime,” he reiterated.
