West Africa Football Academy had their woes of a poor season’s start deepened by Aduana Stars on Saturday.

The Academy Boys, who placed third last term, have made an unimpressive start this season – losing their opening game 1-0 to rejuvenated King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium. They managed to hold defending champions, Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw at home before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Premier League returnees, Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in week three. They were held to a 2-2 draw by Legon Cities FC in week four before a last minute and a solitary penalty by striker, Justus Torsutsey saw them recover from the poor start to halt Great Olympics unbeaten run at the Sogakope Park in the fifth week.

The journey to Dormaa for week six turned out to be a bad day at the office after suffering a 3-0 loss to two time Ghana champions, Aduana Stars whose goals came from Hafiz Adams and a double from former Kotoko winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi. Deputy coach of WAFA, Abubakar Sadiq says the technical team is distraught about the team’s performance.

“The technical, we are not happy about the result. “But you know, in the game of football when you lose concentration from the beginning and then you lose balls in the defensive third, you know definitely opponents will punish you. “A game is a game that if you plan something and it doesn’t work you have to bring in a change and adjust yourself.

“So in the second half we tried to adjust, we went in man marking. I think unfortunately they got the third goal. “We will do a whole lot of psychological work on them and I think it is not fatigue, I think it’s loss of concentration.” Assistant coach Sadiq Abubakar said. The Academy Boys remain on five points after six games and their next step is a home clash against AshantiGold on December 12.
