In the late hours of Thursday on the 2nd of December 2021, there was a release from the public affairs unit of the Ghana Police Service indicating the arrest of Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart. The release stated clearly that, the said media personality has made a comment to incite the military which will one way or the other tamper with the peace and security in the country. He has been arrested to assist investigations. The release also indicated that Blessed Godbrain Smart has been cautioned on the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of Peace as provided under section 207 of the Criminal Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Many Ghanaians are speculating that his arrest will have negative effect on the station as closure of the media house is looming. He is still under the custody of the police but the media house, Onua FM has however reacted over the arrest of their employee through their Instagram handle.
Being the station that he works at, they have to also say what they know about the information given out by the police with regard to the arrest of their worker. According to Onua FM, the statement that was made by their morning show host Captain Smart, leading to his arrest should not be one that should be interpreted in the manner that the police did. That is what Media General which is the mother company of Onua FM and Onua TV believes. Well as it stands now, much can not be said over the issue since he is still in the hands of the police assisting investigation but Ghanaians are anticipating to see what will unfold.
