Asante Mampong Divisional Police Command has taken custody of one Elijah Asadu after he was alleged to have beaten his wife early this morning. Elijah, 34, was arrested this morning at the Mampong Government Hospital when doctors of the hospital alerted the divisional police command to a crime scene.
Comfort Asadu, the wife of Elijah Asadu, battling with a possible eye blindness at the Mampong Hospital Eye clinic, has suffered from a temporal blindness as a result of hot powdered pepper that was poured on her by her husband this morning. Comfort in an argument with her husband over family issues, raised her voice to defend herself over some things the husband Elijah had blamed her for doing.
Comfort knowing she was defending herself, found herself falling to the floor of their kitchen when her husband Elijah, felt insulted by the high tune she was speaking back at him. Elijah with his left hand took a hot powered pepper Comfort had just finished blending, and threw the pepper at her while she stood in front of a gas stove preparing breakfast.
Comfort in an attempt to save herself from the pepper, poured water onto her face but that couldn’t save her, as her case worsened from the water she had used to rinse her eyes of the pepper. She was rushed to the hospital by her neighbour, Ante Obaa Yaa when her husband Elijah, abandoned her after the accident.
Comfort has been given first aid at the hospital to slow the reactive pepper from further causing damage to her pupils as an eye specialist runs to her aid with a possible cleansing of the eyes. She has been scheduled for a referral, to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital tomorrow morning for a pupil cleansing of her eyes from the pepper.
Elijah was arrested when he reported to the hospital to see the wife after neighbours reported that, the case had turned critical. Elijah is still at the Mampong Police station while his wife Comfort as of this time, cannot see or look as her eyes have been bandaged to prevent atmospheric air from further flashing through it. Elijah might face jail on Monday if found guilty.
