Today, 3rd December 2021, is a statutory public holiday for Ghanaians as we celebrate our hardworking farmers for their relentless efforts to feed the nation.

The Executive Director of Good Governance Advocacy Group Ghana (GGAGG), Listowell Nana poku, has indicated that he nearly wore a black shirt today because he believes that today cannot be a happy day for the Ghanaian farmers. After all, they are going through excruciating hardships despite today being a supposed day to celebrate them.

Listowell Nana poku made this statement on ‘Good Morning Africa’ on Pan Africa television this morning, 3rd December 2021, when he bemoaned the challenges the Ghanaian farmers are facing to provide foodstuffs for the nation.

According to Listowell Nana Poku, he thinks that today is supposed to be one of the saddest days in our lives as Ghanaians rather than a happy day for our farmers.

“In fact, I nearly wore a black shirt because you cannot call this day a happy day for Ghanaian farmers. It is rather the most saddest day for farmers across the country.”

Listowell Nana poku revealed that Ghanaian farmers are going through torture, especially when there are slogans all over that the government has done things that nobody has ever done, but when you go down to the farmers, and you see the suffering that they are going through, he thinks that today should be one of the saddest days in the lives of our farmers.

“The kind of pains that farmers are going through, there is no way anybody should call this a celebration day rather it’s a day of mourning for our farmers.”

Listowell Nana poku indicated that he will encourage our dear farmers not to despair and not to give up because where there is life, there is always hope. It’s tough, but they should get tougher themselves because there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
