Police Neutralise Gunmen Who Killed Four Mourners In Benue

Two suspected gunmen were slain by Benue State Police Command agents at Tse Nom in the Ukum local government area of Benue State.

At a wake for late Mama Sule Achin Adingi, gunmen attacked Imande Abul village in Mbater Council Ward of the Logo Local Government Area and killed four mourners, including one Tseen Amos Adagi, while five others were injured.

DSP Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson, made the disclosure in a statement on Monday, saying that a squad of police detectives attacked the thieves’ hideaway in Tse Nom in the state’s Ukum local government area on Sunday, November 28.

“On sighting the police, the hoodlums engaged them (police) in an intense gun duel but were overpowered by the police,” she stated. 

“Three suspects were arrested with gun injuries and were rushed to General Hospital Ugba for treatment. Two of the suspects have been confirmed dead by a doctor while one is responding positively to treatment. Corpses of the disease suspects have been deposited at the hospital morgue.” 

According to the PPRO, the suspects were found with one AK-47 rifle loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, one locally-made G3 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition, different charms, a dagger, and one motorcycle.

The state’s inhabitants were reassured by the command’s resolve to ridding the state of criminals, according to the spokesperson.

In the meantime, the injured have been treated at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) Makurdi and the General Hospital Ugba, both in Logo.
