First four positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Assin South District.

Before these four positive cases, samples were sent for testing but came out negative.

The four cases were recorded through enhanced surveillance by the Assin South Health Directorate.

The victims willingly availed themselves to be tested.

Assin South District Chief Executive, Derrick Owusu Ambrose, who updated the media on the development, urged residents to be calm.

He said measures have been put in place to contain the disease from spreading.

The Assin South Acting Director of Health, Lizbeth Adwoa Wood, said her outfit was tracing contacts of the victims to halt the spread of the disease.

As part of curbing the spread of the disease, the Acting Paramount chief of Atenasu Traditional Area, Nana Kwentwi Berimah III, has directed all family heads in the area not to bring dead bodies home but rather pick them straight from mortuary to the cemetery.
