According to him, it becomes very disheartening when songwriters do not get the necessary recognition for their works. He said that musicians mostly fail to give songwriters the necessary credits for their works.

Speaking in an interview on Up-Close, Eugene stated that folks who have been gifted with the ability to write songs but not the talent to sing are mostly not appreciated by musicians in Ghana.

“Good songwriters are one of the most unappreciated groups of musicians in Ghana, especially those who do not have the grace to sing their own songs”, he said.

I don’t know why some musicians feel bad to let people know that they didn’t write a particular song and will rather pay off the songwriter, sing and not acknowledge him/her,” he questioned.

In other news, Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong, professionally known in the music scene as Medikal has revealed his intention to share his prison experience after he was remanded by the court for five days.

Within the past few weeks, Medikal tasted the bitter side of the law after he was arrested for brandishing a pistol in a viral video sighted on social media. He was remanded into police custody for five days.

He was transferred to the Ankaful Maximum prison along with his pal, Shatta Wale, and three others who were also accused of different crimes. Medikal was later granted bail of GHc100,000 with one surety.
