THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command are on the heels of some robbers who killed a 49 year old night watchman and made away with colossal amount of money.
The runaway miscreants, reportedly, killed one Andoh Bosomtwe, who was on night duty at the A2 Aluminum Company at Ahenema Kokoben near Santase in Kumasi on Wednesday dawn.
The robbers allegedly made away with a metal safe of the company, which was said to be containing a staggering GH¢82,000 and a generator set.
The hoodlums, who had then taken total control of the place, also forcibly broke into an Electricity Company Ghana (ECG) agent’s office and stole GH¢8,000, being kept in the office.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirming the report, said the police rushed to the place but the criminals were nowhere to be found.
According to him, a search was conducted on the body but there were no marks of violence on it, indicating that the police suspect the criminals suffocated the night watchman to death.
The police PRO said the body has since been deposited in the mortuary, awaiting autopsy to confirm the cause of death, stressing that efforts were underway to arrest the hoodlums.
He said the Police Intelligence Team are tracking the robbers and assured that the police are in control of security so the public should support them.
