A MAJOR swoop in all the 15 police divisions in the Ashanti Region has led to the arrest of 396 suspected criminals from their hideouts.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, making the disclosure, said the arrest is a breakthrough in the fight against crime in the region.
According to him, the police operation which started from Wednesday, September 14 and ended on Monday, September 20, 2021 was carried out simultaneously within all the 15 police divisions in the region.
“In all, 396 suspected persons, aged between 17 and 55 years, were rounded up in the swoops,” he announced.
ASP Ahianyo said the Ashanti Regional Police Command has resolved to step up its effort to curb violent crimes within the region.
“The arrested persons were screened and profiled and those found culpable were put before the various courts in the region,” he indicated, adding that some of the suspects were remanded into custody to reappear at a later date, whilst others were granted court bail to report later on.
