Oct. 5 (UPI) — HBO Max released the first teaser for its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, Tuesday morning.
The 70-second video has already gotten about 500,000 views.
The show is based on George R.R. Martin’s medieval fantasy novel, Fire & Blood.
Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, it follows members of the House Targaryen, the ancestors of GOT fan favorite Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke.
House of the Dragon is scheduled to debut in 2022. It will star Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Savannah Steyn and Theo Nate.
Tuesday’s teaser features the blonde Targaryens in power, warriors fighting and a voice explaining: “Dreams didn’t make us kings. Dragons did.”
It also offers a glimpse of one Targaryen approaching the franchise’s iconic Iron Throne, the seat of power for all of the world’s kingdoms.
