Oct. 5 (UPI) — Natalie Morales is the new co-host of The Talk.

The journalist and television personality will join the CBS talk show following news of her impending departure from NBC.

Morales joins The Talk hosts Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbajabiamila. She will make her official debut on the show Oct. 11.

“It’s an extraordinary opportunity to be joining this team at The Talk,” Morales said in a statement. “I love the new energy and direction and couldn’t be more excited to join Sheryl, Amanda, Jerry and Akbar. I’m looking forward to many good times while talking about the days’ topics, and I can’t wait to get going.”

Morales appeared on the show Monday, where she was welcomed by her Talk co-hosts.

Executive producers Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews said they “couldn’t be more excited” to have Morales join The Talk.

“We have been fans of her and her work for years. Her varied skillset and versatility are a great addition to our talented panel. Natalie’s intelligence, passion and enthusiasm always shine through in all her work, and we are fortunate to have her on the team,” Gray and Matthews said in a statement.

“In addition to her role as an exceptional broadcaster, we believe her perspective as a wife and mother will provide a special connection with our audience,” they added.

The Talk is in its 12th season on CBS. Carrie Ann Inaba, Elaine Welteroth and Sharon Osbourne exited the show earlier this year.

Morales announced last week that she will leave NBC after 22 years. She is expected to appear as a correspondent on Dateline through the end of the year.
